Where did Journey in Colour start?
My career in travel began over 25 years ago as a travel agent, and today I work as a commercial director at the heart of an industry I’ve never stopped loving. But somewhere along the way, my personal relationship with travel quietly transformed.
What began as a bucket list of new lands and cultures gradually became something slower and more intentional. I stopped rushing.
Travel writing became the tool that helped me see the world through a different lens. When you visit places to write, you’re forced to be more present - to notice the details that matter. I also wanted to create a written legacy for my children, teaching them to seek the real beauty of life rather than the perfect Instagram moment.
This shift in perspective is why I created Journey in Colour - a personal travel journal where my finished travel stories live, and where I can document what happens when you slow down enough to truly see.
What is this Substack publication about?
This is my digital journal. Think of it as my trusted, worn leather notebook, now in article form. It’s where I share the ideas, moments, and inspiration that live between my travels - the real journey that's shaping who I'm becoming.

What you’ll find here are reflections on the art, culture, outstanding people and philosophy I discover on my travels. The concepts and ideas that shape how we experience the world. I’m endlessly curious about how these engagements make us feel, help us grow, and challenge us to see the world differently.
